We’ve Changed Our Name!

Huge news!! We have decided to change the name of our pantry to Pittsfield Community Food Pantry!

While the "South" part of our current name was a nod to both South Church (now United Church of Christ Pittsfield) and South Street — people often mistakenly thought that our pantry is located in South Berkshire County!

We hope that this name change helps clarify our location — in downtown Pittsfield, right across the street from the Colonial Theatre! — and also helps to call attention to the great need in our city.

Our food pantry is the largest food distribution site in Berkshire County. 1,515 households (4,292 individuals) currently receive food from the pantry, and we deliver to 550 Pittsfield households each week. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and we are open and deliver in the rain, snow, and summer heat.

You will likely see both names used for a few months. We are planning to officially announce the new name at Rock the Pantry — our fundraiser concert at the Colonial Theatre on September 20, 2025!
